What The Test Covers
The CITB HS&E test is an online, multiple-choice exam that checks your understanding of health and safety in the workplace. It's sat at a test centre on a touch-screen terminal and is a required step before your CSCS card application, alongside any qualification requirement for your target card colour.
Test Format
- General knowledge questions covering core safety topics that apply across the industry
- A behavioural case-study section testing how you'd respond to real workplace scenarios
- Different versions exist for operatives, specialists, supervisors, managers and professionals — you'll need the version matching your role
- Results are given immediately at the end of the test
How We Help
We guide you through choosing the right test version for your role, understanding what to expect on the day, and how the test fits into your wider CSCS card application — alongside any NVQ or Health & Safety course requirement for your card level.
Please note: we are an independent support provider, not CITB. Test booking is made through official CITB-approved channels; we're here to make sure you book the right test, understand what's required, and know what happens next once you've passed.
After You Pass
Once you've passed your CITB test and hold (or are working towards) the qualification required for your target card, your application can be submitted through the official CSCS scheme. Your CSCS card is issued directly by CSCS.
